“I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

That bible scripture makes it clear to us that as ALL the promises of God are “Yes” to us in Christ Jesus, and through him we say ‘Amen’ to the glory of God,” (2Cor 1:20) so those promises of the Lord’s good plans for his people who were in exile in Babylon because of their unfaithfulness are ours also, despite our sometimes unfaithfulness. (2Tim 2:11-13)

Our Father remains faithful to his promises because of what the Lord Jesus did on Calvary, provided of course that our careless unfaithfulness does not lead to our becoming guilty of the perpetual backsliding that natural Israel was guilty of. (Jer 8:4-13) This kind of carelessness has no place in any love relationship, and least of all in the love relationship our God wants with us; the relationship he has paid the highest price possible for him to pay; the life of his Son Jesus; to make this possible.
