"Be imitators of God as beloved children. Walk in love as Christ loved us, and gave himself up for us, a fragrent offering and sacrifice to God."

What an extrordinary command that is!! "BE IMITATORS OF GOD"! Sadly, we can so easily focus our attention on it being impossible for us to obey such a great command. which of course it is, OF OURSELVES, However, IF, and I repeat, IF, we walk in the God-given ability to love, which we're told of in Rom 5:5 "God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit", then, as long as we realise that scripture is not just talking about God's love FOR us, which in our selfishness we can so easily think, but is in fact, and much more importantely, talking about God's ability to love being POURED in our hearts, then, and only then, can we come to know just what a magnificient work the Father has done in us, through his Spirit, by courtesy of what the Lord Jesus did on Calvary.

We can "be imitators of God"!! After all, this new nature, which he has placed in those who have truly been reborn of his mighty Spirit, was created by him "in the likeness of God, in true righteousness and holiness". Eph 4:24
