We are surely living in a time when all the above exhortations are even more important than in times past. Never before have God's people been bombarded through all forms of the media with the values and thinking of this fallen world. We most urgently need to be encouraging each other to keep our eyes on the Lord Jesus Christ by constantely feeding our souls on the scriptures, the word of God, which he, by his Spirit within us, makes alive and active in our lives, souls and minds. It is only the cleansing power of God's beautiful word which will continually cleans us of the muck and mire which is thrown at us every day. Just as we need the blood of the living Word, the Lord Jesus, to cleans us of sin, so too, we need the waters of the word, the scriptures, to wash our minds, our souls, our thinking, of the false values of this fallen world.
