"Do not presume on the riches of God's kindness, patience and forebearance."

In any human relationship, I wonder if there is anything more off-putting than that of one being presumptious, i.e., presuming that whatever one does, the other party will be alright with it.

Yet in our relationship with our God some of us seem to think that, because of what Jesus did for us on Calvary, God will turn a blind eye to our actions. Yet the scripture quoted goes on to say, "Do you not realise that God's patience is meant to led you to repentance, {i.e. a change of attitude and action} but by your hard and inpenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgement will be revealed." (Rom 2:4b-5) And again, "Unless you repent you will perish." (Luk 13:3&5, Rev 2:5)

Think about it! We must be wholeheartedly willing to turn from our sin in total repentance, never again trying, in any way, to justify ourselves, or as someone once said, "Hiding behind Jesus." What a foolish hope that would be, seeing as how he is the Judge we will all have to give an account to. (Matt 25:31-46)

Again, as someone else said, "Let's get real".
