Verse of the Week 1Peter 5:6 |

"Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God that in due time he may exalt you."Of all the different heart attitudes which our God requires of us, surely the most difficult for our human nature to comply with is that of humility; at least that's certainly true of me.
Yet without this essential ingredient in our lives we will find ourselves in an impossible position in our relationship with him, because he tells us in James 4:6 that "He opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." How important it is for us to remember the promise which follows in that verse, telling us that if we will do this, "that in due time he may exhalt you." Yet in spite of our weekness, the power we so desperately need to live as a true, Christlike, child of God in every area of our lives is freely available to us. "For to as many as received him ,and believed in his name, to them he gave power (the right) to become sons (children) of God." (John 1:12) What a glorious hope we have in that when HE has finished HIS work in us we will be exactly like the Lord Jesus, sharing in his glory forever. (2Thess 2:13-14, Rom 8:29) WOW! What grace! |
