"The Lord is near to all who call upon him, who call upon him in truth."

I sometimes wonder just how many of us say, "I pray, but God does not seem to be listening." And again, just how many of us understand, and take to heart, the qualifying statement in the above verse, i.e. "to all who call upon him IN TRUTH."  What does that word mean to you? I know that for me it means being really seriously wholehearted in seeking him and calling on him, in order to have him carry out HIS WILL IN MY LIFE, rather than me getting what I think I need or want.

When the Lord Jesus came into my life in 1970 the very first thing he said to me was. "If you will surrender your will to me, I will do three things in your life." I will not go into those three things here, because the all important thing he asked of me was to surrender my will to him. And while I have struggled with doing that simple thing over the years, nevertheless, he has been very patient with me. In the process I came to realise that all he wanted of me was a willingness to do things his way. He supplies everything I need to do so.

Psalm 143:10 "Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. Let your good Spirit lead me on a level path."

Psalm 85:11 "Teach me your way my Lord that I may walk in YOUR TRUTH."
