”Let him who speaks, speak as one who utters the oracles of God, and he who renders service, let him render it by the strength which God provides, so that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. Tohim belong glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. "

Continuing on from last time we read in 1Peter 4:11 that our attitude should be one of glorifying our God as we make full use of the spiritual gifts we have received for building up the body of Christ. No matter what we may think our motives are, our speech and our actions will always show just what they truly are. We need to be honest with ourselves when asking if everything we do is directed solely to our Father’s glory, or are we, at least in some way, promoting ourselves, our own beliefs, ideas and values, oreven our own fellowship group, fully convinced that this attitude on our part linesup with God’s wishes?

When we speak, are we consciously and deliberately speaking our God’s word, or just our own thoughts, values and ideas? Are we in the habit of constantly seeking his face; his presence;especially by reading his word, so that we may know his
thoughts on what we wish to share with the brethren? When we set out to be servants to the brethren do we speak in such a way as to make sure, in so far as possible for us, to do so in a way which clearly shows that whatever we speak or do is a direct result of the grace of our God in our lives?

“Whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Col 3:17)

“Whether you eat or drink, or whatever else you do, do all for the glory to God, giving no offense to Jew or Greek or to the church(household) of God.” (1Cor 10:31-32)
