“Those who have no reason to judge themselves for what they approve are blessed.”What a glorious place of true liberty our God has brought us into through the sacrifice of his Son, Jesus!! We read in Col 2:16-17 “Let no one pass judgment on you in matters of food and drink or with regard to a festival, a new moon, or a sabbath, these things are only a shadow of what is to come, the substance belongs to Christ”.
If we would only fully take hold of this truth then we would be able to enter into “the glorious liberty of the sons of God”, (Rom 8;21) and we would come to know by experience the truth of Jesus’ words in John 8:36 “If the Son sets you free, then you are free indeed.” Again we read, Gal 5:1 “Christ has set us free so that we may be truly free.” But we must always remember that while we were called to freedom, we must never use that freedom as an opportunity to gratify the flesh, but instead through love be always ready to serve to each other. (Gal 5:13) After all, Jesus said of himself “The Son of man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Matt 20:28) In 1John 3:16 we read, “By this we know love, that Christ laid down his life for us, so we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren”. It does not take much understanding to realise that while this may be speaking to us about dying physically for each other’s sake, if that were ever to become necessary, much more importantly, it is speaking to us of LAYING DOWN OUR LIVES IN LIVING EACH DAY, WITH EACH OTHER’S ETERNAL GOOD IN MIND.
