The incident recorded in Gen. chapter four about Adam’s first two sons, Cain and Abel, makes it very clear that our God holds us responsible, in so far as it is in our power, for the welfare of our brothers and sisters in Christ. Clearly, when Cain answered God’s question concerning the whereabouts of Abel, saying, “I don’t know where he is, am I my brother’s keeper?” The answer to Cain’s question, in God’s view, is very definitely, ‘Yes’! This is surely very clear when we remember the words of Jesus in Matt.25:31-46.
