It frightens me at times to see the chronic lack of understanding and ability which is so prevalent among Christians in this so vital area of our lives. There seems to be a very severe lack of teaching and training in it. Newborn Christians are often thrown in at the deep end, floundering, and suffering badly, as a result.

Yet, in the natural, we would regard any government as being very irresponsible, if they didn’t train soldiers properly before sending them out to face the enemy. In Australia, we boast, possibly rightly so, of how our troops, particularly the SAS, are so highly trained and prepared, resulting in very few casualties in combat. Why isn’t this self same set of principles applied in the spiritual? I wonder!
